IQAC Meeting Dated 3-3-2012

A meeting of the College IQAC (the list of the members present is enclosed herewith) was held on 03-03-2012. The implementation of the suggestions for the year 2011-12 made in the IQAC meeting held on 16-08-2011 was reviewed and recorded as follows (the necessary records are available with the concerned depts.)

 

  • As a result of organizing tutorials and merit classes, the College students bagged 83 merit positions including 7 first positions during the year.
  • 3 Extension lectures were organized by the Commerce Dept., 2 by the Science faculty, 5 by the BBA Dept. and 1 by the BCA Dept. The lectures were delivered by eminent academicians, professionals and company executives.
  • During the course of the year, a 5-day Personality Development Workshop was organized by the Commerce Department from 7-2-2012 to 11-2-2012. Before that in October-November, 2011, a 6-day Workshop on Memory Management and Healing was organized for the college faculty. The BBA Department organized 9 PD sessions of 2 hours each during the year. The Department also organized a Quiz Week from 27-02-2012 to 1-3-2012. The BCA Department also organized PD classes by a couple of PD experts.
  • 3 faculty members completed their Ph.D. during the year. Also three of them were awarded UGC sponsored Minor Research Projects during the year.
  • During the year, 4014 books including reference books were purchased for the College Library at a cost of Rs.7,54,325/-.
  • The faculty members presented as many as 42 research papers in National Conferences and 10 papers in International Conferences. The college faculty attended as many as 22 National Conferences and 4 International Conferences during the course of the year.
  • As many as 3 UGC-sponsored National Conferences - one by the Commerce Department and 2 by the Computer Department- were organized during the year.
  • As many as 5 Seminars/Workshops were organized in the college by Rashtriya Chetna Shakti Foundation, Faridabad, a local NGO. Weekly discourses on the Gita were organized in the college by ISKCON, a world-renowned NGO. Workshops and Meditation Sessions by the Art of Living Foundation were also organized. A 5-day State Level Workshop on First Aid by the Distt Unit of the Red Cross Society was organized in the college for 100 students. A Blood Donation Camp was organized on the college campus with the help of Lok Uthan Club, a local NGO.
  • As many as 558 meritorious students were loaned books for the whole session by the College Library by way of incentivizing them. 15 Students were granted fee concession on merit- cum-means basis by the college during the year.
  • As many as 14 students were given cash prize of Rs.1100/- each from the college coffers for their outstanding performance in Cultural Activities, Sports and NCC at the National level.
  • As a result of motivating teachers towards book writing, as many as 11 books written by the college faculty were published during the year.
  • 2 Research Papers written by the college faculty were published in journals during the year.
  • By way of moving towards subscribing to online journals, the college Library subscribed to Economic and Political Weekly on line as well as in physical form.
  • As a result of the sustained efforts put in by the college Placement Cell, 71 students from different streams like BBA, BCA, B.Com and B.Sc. found placement with reputed companies like Wipro Technologies, Gen Pact, IBM,NIIT Technologies, Axis Bank and HCL Technologies etc during 2011-2012.
  • An attempt will be made to open Departmental Libraries in respect of Commerce, Marketing and BBA in the next session.
  • The First Faridabad International Film Festival was organized by the college from 11th to 15 Jan., 2012. 29 prominent film personalities as well as eminent academicians with a grasp on the world of cinema came to grace the occasion. As many as 16 national and international critically acclaimed films were shown during the Festival. Heavyweights from the Hindi film industry like Om Puri, Kundan Shah, Gautam Ghosh, Feroze Abbas Khan, Raghuvir Yadav and Ranjit Kapoor as well as D.J.Narayan, Director,FTII, Pune, made it to the Festival.
  • A High Power LCD Projector with a big screen costing Rs.1,69,500/- was installed in the College Auditorium for the purpose.
  • All-out efforts were made to promote Painting, Poster Making, Clay Modeling and Cartooning etc. A good number of students were trained in these Fine Arts with the help of our own Faculty as well as two experts from out side.
  • As many as five committees were formed for helping the college excel in the Zonal Youth Festival. As a result of their sincere and coordinated efforts , the college not only won the Over All Zonal Youth Festival Championship Trophy for the 5th time in a row but also 14 first, 11 second and 4 third prizes.
  • All efforts were made to bring the college One Act Play to a high level of excellence.
  • As a result , the College Play scored a first at the Distt., State and National Level. The National Level Contest was held at Mangaluru. The College One Act Play students were honoured with a cash prize of Rs.96,000/- by the Govt. of Haryana. The 6 girl participants were given Rs.5100/- each by Women and Child Welfare Ministry of the Govt. of Haryana.
  • As a result of the persistent efforts of the college, the 1st Over All Inter Zonal Youth Festival Championship Trophy instituted by M.D. University, Rohtak, was bagged by the college during the year. The college also got a cash prize of Rs.51,000/- as well as an Award of Excellence from the university. The college bagged 8 first prizes and 1 second prize in the above event.
  • The work of laying the Basketball Court will be undertaken next year.
  • Efforts will be made to finish the task of preparing & maintaining the college Boxing Ring as early as possible.
  • In the 1st place , 40 promising sportspersons were admitted to the college. 17 of them participated in different disciplines in the Nationals. 3 of them scored a first at the National Level, one of them got the second place and yet another got the third place.
  • Pursuant to the suggestion made by the committee in its last meeting, an LCD Projector was installed in the Commerce Department whereas BBA & BCA Departments already have one each installed in their respective departments. Efforts will be made to install smart boards in the above departments in the coming session.
  • As a result of the rigorous training imparted to the College NCC Cadets under the watchful eye of the College NCC Officer, one of them was selected to participate in the RD Parade at Rajpath, New Delhi, on 26th January 2012.
  • It is a matter of happiness that, as suggested, two Blood Donation Camps were organized in the college during 2011-12.
  • One of the our faculty members who is a member of the Academic Council of the University, emphatically endorsed the issue of introducing job oriented courses and following the Delhi University syllabi in M.D.Univeresity when the matter came up for discussion in meetings of the Academic Coucil. Prof. Mukesh Bansal, as a member of BBA Board of Studies, got two new subjects added to the BBA
  • curriculum. Further , a three member committee was constituted for introducing changes in the BBA curriculum. Prof. Mukesh Bansal got a place in that important committee. Dr. Satish Saluja and Prof. D.P.Vaid as members of the Boards of Studies of Mathematics and Economics respectively were during the year very much involved in framing the syllabi afresh when the Annual System was replaced by the Semester System.
  • Efforts will be made to implement the suggestion of providing a Girls' Common Room in every Block in the near future.
  • Efforts will similarly be made to implement the suggestion of making arrangements for indoor games for students in the near future.
  • Parent-Teacher Meets were organized by the Commerce, BBA & BCA Departments as well as in case of MA English students.
  • On all important occasions during the year, the Alumni were invited to the college and a due note of their feedback taken with a view to ensuring the betterment of the college. As per the feedback of the Alumni , it came to light that the college is doing quite well in academics, sports, extramural activities, NCC & NSS with it registering a sizeable presence in the university merit lists and our EMA students ,sportspersons and NCC Cadets registering their presence even at the National Level. The Alumni expressed their satisfaction with the quality of teaching and the job orientation of most of the courses which got them good jobs and helped them enter decent professions like Chartered Accountancy, Management and Law. They were also happy with the prestige the college enjoyed in knowledgeable circles.
  • The college is running a Literacy Centre for 60 Deprived Children. The children of the Centre are provided free books, uniforms, midday snacks as well as health care.
  • Also the NSS Unit of the college organized a 7-day Camp for the benefit of the residents of Rahul Colony, a slum in the close proximity of the college.
  • The AMC of Computers for the year 2012-13 was awarded to M/S Unique Infotech, Faridabad, that of Electricity to M/S Vikas Electricals , Faridabad, that of Intercom & CCTVs to M/S Modern Technologies, Faridabad, that of Security to M/S Babita Group , Faridabad, and that of Cleanliness to M/S Shourya Associates, Faridabad, all competent people in their respective fields.
  • Efforts will be made to install a Photostat Machine in the college Library in the next session.
  • As many as 4 internet connections were provided to the college Library during the year.
  • The opinion of experts was sought for the purpose of providing adequate power backup to the college. They certified that the present power backup was sufficient to cater to the needs of the college.
  • As many as 159 economically weaker students have been given books from the Book Bank during the year.
  • Current titles worth more than Rs.10,000/- were purchased for the college Library during the year.
  • The college website has been constantly uploaded during the year, providing all the necessary information to the students and the general public.
  • The College Medical Centre has provided free medical check-up and dispensed free medicines to the students and staff as and when required and as far as possible.
  • All efforts will be made to install RO Systems and Water Coolers on every floor in every block in the near future.
  • During the year the furniture of the college canteen were changed and counters fixed for the convenience of the students so that they could eat standing.
  • The College Library loaned books at least worth Rs.10,000/- to students preparing for competitive exams. Also Dr.Sukhbir Singh Malik, IAS (Retd.), conducted free of cost coaching classes, mock interviews and written tests for such students during the year.
  • The college started three important job oriented courses - B.Com (Hons), BJMC & BTM- for the benefit of the students during the year.
  • All efforts will be made to bring out the next issue of the college magazine during the coming session.
  • Basic Computer Education classes were started for 260 BA students during the year.
  • As the Science Department had already purchased equipment, apparatus and materials in 2010-11 for the coming two years, they did not need to make any such purchase in 2011-12.
  • Though students' feedback is always encouraged and welcome, efforts will be made to institutionalize the mechanism in the coming year.
  • The BBA & BTM Departments organized 5 industrial and educational visits for the students during the course of the year. One such industrial visit were organized by the BCA Department.
